GOLDFISH

GOLDFISH explores the surreal and contemplative tension between environment and identity. As the second painting in my ongoing series Fish Out of Water, this work portrays a vibrant goldfish suspended in a dreamlike sky, far from its natural aquatic habitat. Below, a serene landscape with rolling green hills and a traditional Japanese torii gate evokes a place of spiritual transition. The goldfish, often associated with luck, prosperity, and transformation, becomes a symbol of displacement and resilience. This series reflects on what it means to exist between worlds—familiar yet foreign.
