TATAK ng NINUNO
Such an honor to be part of this event and have the opportunity to share my culture through @the.polyglot.magazine. In this issue I was able to share my Pamana. The subconscious wisdom that we have inherited from our elder/ancestors. Stories that were passed down through generations. As an artist, I am grateful to be an instrument of the diaspora and Filipinos in preservation of our culture and story.

Barkada Brush Bash
On November 15, 2025, the energy was electric at Kinshi Rinji (formerly Maki Maki), where over 25 creative souls gathered for the first-ever Barkada Brush Bash. An event brought to life by Congress of the Philippine Associations of Alberta (COPAA).
The four-hour afternoon was filled with paints, canvases, good company, and the warm hum of community spirit.
From the moment guests walked in, the vibe was warm, welcoming, and buzzing with creativity. Old friends reconnected and newfound friendships formed, all united by the shared spirit of art and community. Every canvas was unique. Not just of paint on board, but of laughter, conversation, and collective energy.
Did you know?
Calamansi — often called the “Philippine lime”, is one of the most iconic citrus fruits in Filipino households. Beyond its zesty flavor, calamansi is known for symbolizing fresh beginnings, cleansing, and resilience in Filipino culture. It is also traditionally used in everything from natural deodorant, cooking, and healing remedies to rituals for good luck and protection.
New Exhibit Alert:
Local Art at the EPL!
Hello, Edmonton! I am thrilled to share some exciting news to kick off the new year. If you find yourself wandering through the Edmonton Public Library this winter, I invite you to stop by and visit my latest art installation, which officially moved in on December 1st.
There is something so special about sharing art in a space dedicated to community and learning. This collection features several of my favorite oil paintings, each created with a deep focus on texture and the spirit of the natural world. Among the pieces on display, you’ll find:
The Leopard (2023): 20 x 28 in.
The Fish (2025): 40 x 40 in.
The Raven (2023): 20 x 26 in.
Whether you are a fellow YEG artist, a neighbor from Sherwood Park or St. Albert, or just someone looking to escape the January chill, I would love for you to experience these works in person. Photos truly don’t do the oil textures justice!
The exhibit will be available for viewing throughout the entire month of January 2026.
Thank you for supporting local art and making our city’s creative scene so wonderful. If you stop by, please snap a photo and tag me. I’d love to hear which piece resonates with you most!
Inked Expressions of Filipino Identity
Featured in Alberta Filipino Journal
In July 2024, my work and artistic journey were featured in Alberta Filipino Journal, highlighting a powerful moment not just for my practice, but for Filipino representation in the arts. The feature, “Inked Expressions of Filipino Identity,” explored how tattooing can serve as a living expression of culture, storytelling, and ancestral connection.
The article captured my Neo-traditional approach, blending Filipino mythology, folklore, and identity into contemporary tattoo work, and shared my journey as an artist rooted in both heritage and modern expression. It emphasized that tattooing goes beyond aesthetics, serving as a meaningful way to preserve stories and create space for cultural visibility within the Filipino diaspora.
Being featured and appearing on the front page was a deeply affirming moment. It reflected not only personal growth but also the growing appreciation for Filipino artists in Alberta and the importance of sharing our narratives through art.
